Fun Saturday in Park City

Last Saturday, Laura came up from St. George, and Grandma Susie came down from Rexburg and we had a great time. Wes, Jackson, London, Aunt Lulu, Grandma Susie, and I went to Park City on Saturday and this day was all about the kiddies. We went to Park City Mt. Resort where they had all sorts of fun things for kids. The funnest was a roller coaster ride that went up the mountain and down (kind of like the Alpine Slide). Only Jackson and Wes went on it, but they said it was awesome. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of it. What I did get a picture of was.................................

Our pet bird, Flower. He is a baby bird from a nest in our tree. He left the nest and is learning to fly. Until he can learn to fly properly, he has taken up residence in our dense bushes and flowers in the front of our house. We see him every day.

The whole reason we went to Park City in the first place-so Jackson could have a ride on a horse. Jorge the horse took Jackson for a fun ride, and Jackson, of course, loved it.

Late Night with Conan O'Brien

We watched Conan O'Brien the other night and he went to UPS and helped deliver for a day. This video is absolutely hilarious. It is kind of long but well worth watching the whole thing. I don't know if it will be as funny to others as it is to me. You will have to pause our music down on the right hand side to hear the video clip. Enjoy!

Update on our Basement

Our basement is almost finished. Actually I have been saying this for the last 2 months. "Just 2 more weeks," I say to everyone who asks. Then 2 weeks goes by and I keep saying, "just 2 more weeks!" So really this time I mean it: "Just 2 more weeks and it will be finished!"

This is the family room. The funny thing hanging from the wall is the cord bundle for our future flat screen tv which will hang on the wall.
I painted Jackson's room blue. You can't tell in the pic, but it is very very bright. I am not totally sure I love it, but we are putting tan beadboard on the bottom half so hopefully that will tone it down. I think the finished product will look good.
And of course we have to have a pink room for our pink girl. I am also putting beadboard in her room which will match the color of the trim in the bottom of this picture. I was so nervous about painting pink and the whole time I painted I thought maybe I had made a mistake, but now every time I go into this room I absolutely love the color I picked.
And here is the tile in our bathroom. See, it's almost done! Just 2 more weeks! I promise!

London-15 months old!

London is 15 months old today! She is getting so big. Here are 15 things about our sweet little girl at this age.

1. She loves being outside

2. She loves Dr. Pepper (thanks to Daddy)

3. She has a huge sweet tooth

4. She eats more than Jackson-she is like a bottomless pit-she gets it from Mommy:(

5. She is just starting to torment her brother and likes to say "uhh!" when you take something away from her
6. She loves her binky and when you show it to her she laughs and giggles till you give it to her

7. She hardly ever cries and laughs a lot

8. She loves to do exactly what Jackson is doing

9. She loves popsicles

10. She likes to swim and play at the pool and is not afraid to put her head underwater

11. She is very cuddly and loves to cuddle mostly with daddy because she is a daddy's girl.

12. She loves baths (what baby doesn't?)

13. She absolutely adores doggies

14. She can make buffalo sounds and knows what a buffalo is thanks to our trip to Yellowstone

15. She thinks horses are buffalos and makes the buffalo sound whenever we see one

Biking with Friends

Today some friends and I drove up Big Cottonwood Canyon, east of Salt Lake and biked part of the Wasatch Crest Trail. This trail has always been one of my favorites, dropping nearly 3000 vertical feet and some of the funnest downhill in Utah. Because of the wet winter, beautiful wildflowers were in bloom and they were everywhere. Desolation Lake was full and beautiful. If any of you have time to ride or hike this trail, it is definitely worth it. We had one crash and one flat tire, compliments of Brandon. What a great ride.

So many pictures

I just have to say sorry to those who I didn't get many pictures of on our trip. I think I did get pictures of everyone, but I feel like I posted so many already, so sorry about that too. We had so much fun though and considering we took about 700 pictures, I really didn't post that many.

Our Trip to Yellowstone July 2008

We just got back from our summer vacation to Yellowstone Park. It was really fun and we did so much, I don't even know where to start. I guess with day 1. Also, we took approximately 700 pictures on this trip, so choosing which ones to put up is going to be tricky. Wes loves taking pictures so we have a lot. But hey, it's free, and it makes him happy, so it's ok!

Day 1: Sunday, June 29:

Jackson and Wes went to check on the crops with Grandpa Wood. This is Jackson in the barley field.

Went for a Sunday drive in "Pinky," my dad's pink car-I think it is a 1953 Caddilac Convertible. We just call it the Marilyn Monroe car-worth about $6k in 1953, worth about $60k today.

Day 2: Monday, June 30th: Grandpa Wood took Wes and Jackson fishing on the Snake River, while London, Grandma, and I went shopping for our camping trip and cooked all day. Real fun--well for the boys anyway

Jackson even got to drive the boat and did a very good job of it. I love this picture of Grandpa and Jackson.

Day 3: Tuesday, July 1: We got up and Jackson and I went for a ride in Grandpa's airplane. We flew over Palisades and the Hoback Junction just below Jackson Hole, and over the mountains just south of the Tetons. It was very fun and pretty. Then we packed up and stopped by Grandpa and Grandma Nye's house to visit them for a bit. Then we headed to Island Park and spent the night at the cabin.

The first thing London did and the Nye's was sit down in the water and get soaking wet. How fun!
Grandpa Nye had arranged to sell his hay to someone behind his house in a field. Jackson was outside when they came to pick it up. We were all in the house and Jackson ran over to the men getting they hay and started shouting at them to "not take my Grandpa's hay!" We had to run out there and tell him it was ok. It was so funny!
We finally got to Island Park around 8:00 pm. I love this picture. Island Park is so beautiful and the sunsets from the cabin are stunning. The pictures don't even capture it. I also thought the kids looked cute too. And the flowers were in bloom and just gorgeous!

Day4: Wednesday, July 2nd: We woke up to a gorgeous morning at the cabin in I.P. We took lots of pictures of the flowers. Then we went to Big Springs to feed the fish. Big Springs is a natural spring that bubbles up from the ground and starts a whole river-the Buffalo River I think. The water is crystal clear.

More of Day 4 Wednesday: I just had to post these few more of Day 4. We drove into Yellowstone Park and made our way to our campsite at Bridge Bay by Yellowstone Lake. We set up camp and went down to the lake. It was so pretty. Mommy and Londie in front of some hot pots
We had been at the campsite for about 2 minutes and I looked at London and this is what I saw. Let the dirt party begin!
Wes says this is his favorite picture of the whole trip. I guess I am very skilled in taking pictures. This is Yellowstone Lake. It is the largest freshwater lake in the world above 7,000 feet and it is freeeeeeeeeeeezing! It is so cold, you are not allowed to swim in it at all.

Day 5: Thursday, July 3rd: London woke up at 6:30 am ready to go for the day. We headed north to Mammoth Hot Springs with Uncle Dave's family, and Aunt Paula's family. We had a great day!

Drum roll please............we saw a Grizzly! Yea! That is the first time I have ever seen one in the park and we actually saw 9 bear altogether. The rest were black bear. This totally made our whole trip. I have never seen that many in a single trip before. It was very cool. We acted like very excited tourists.
