Merry Christmas!

We had such a great Christmas this year. We were able to see lots of family, and had lots of snow, so it was great. Here is what we did...

After Christmas at home, we drove to Idaho to hang out with the Nye Clan-Paul Claudia, Ben and his family, Andy and Bri, and Steve and Dana. This is Jackson playing on Uncle Sam's drums

There was so much snow in Idaho; Wes spent an hour snowblowing my paren'ts driveway; then a tractor came and finished up for us. They buried my parent's mailbox. You can see the white tip sticking up next to the wooden pole I stuck in. I hope my parents don't need their mail for a while...

Grandpa Nye and us; Grandma Nye was fulfilling her calling at church when we left, so we didn't get a picture with her, but she will be blessed for not flaking out on church. We had lots of fun in Idaho. It was sad to go. But we are looking forward to more fun over New Years!

Alone...

It's Monday evening and the house seems so quiet, I can't believe it. The 3 cousins, Max, Bailey, and Owen left Saturday morning. Owen, Jackson, and I got strep throat to top the weekend off. Laura (who has lived with us these last 3 months), and Bryan who were staying with us took off for Idaho for the holidays, and my brother Sam stayed with us this weekend as well before flying out to visit a friend for Christmas. So we have had a very full house and now it is empty and quiet. It was fun to have everyone, but I must admit, I am enjoying the alone time we are having.

Last goodbye's to Laura and Bryan. We won't be seeing them again before they move to Grand Cayman at the end of this year (in a week or so). We love you guys, and will miss you so much! It was so fun to have Laura live with us, and fun to have Bryan stay for a while. Good luck in Grand Cayman!

5 kids under the age of 6!

We are watching Wes' brother's kids this week while they are on vacation. It has been hectic (and it's only day 3), but fun for the kids. It snowed on the first day and they were right out in the snow playing. Hopefully the time will fly by between refereeing, the feeding frenzy, and chauffering the kids to and from school.

It took me about a half hour just to get them all bundled up; then a few of them wandered back in about 15 minutes later. Owen and Max stayed out the longest. They are the real snow bunnies.

UPS Local Hero

The other day, Wes’ supervisor received a letter from the Springville Police Department to express gratitude and appreciation for one of the UPS employees…so here it is. It was also posted on the world wide UPS website for UPS employees on the front page yesterday:

Springville Police Department Lieutenant Recognizes Provo Service Provider Wes Nye for saving a life.

Keep your eyes moving be aware of your surroundings

On Friday, October 31, 2008, a gentleman from Springville, who suffers from memory loss and other mental health issues due to a series of strokes, went missing from his home.

His family called the Police to get help in locating him. Officers and family were unable to locate him in the areas his family thought he would be in. They then began going from business to business with a photograph of the man contacting employees and patrons to see if anyone had seen him.

While at a business, officers were contacted by Provo service provider, Wes Nye. Mr. Nye explained to the officers that he would like to see the photo because he was making deliveries throughout the city and would watch for the man.

At approximately 4:00 pm Wes called the Springville Police Department to say he had seen a man who he felt matched the description of the missing man. An officer responded to the area where the man was seen and found that it was the missing man.

The man was exhausted from walking around all day and explained to the officer that he was unable to find his way home. The man was extremely grateful that he had been found and said over and over how thankful he was that people were looking for him.

Needless to say he was very happy to get home so he could eat and rest. His family is also very appreciative to Wes for going above and beyond his work responsibility to help him get home.

Springville Police Department Lieutenant Dell Gordon said, “We are very pleased to know that there are people throughout our community who care about others and make all communities better by what they do.”

Don’t I have the greatest husband ever? He is a hero…and at Wes’ daily UPS meeting for all the drivers, they gave him an award and cheered for him. Way to go Wes!
