Jackson found one of these looking exactly like this today on our front porch underneath an overhang of cement by the stairs. They were very very tiny, you could hardly see them. He showed me and I started freaking out and I wanted to hurry and get the bug spray and kill them all. We got to see them actually being born--squirming out of their little cacoon. It was a Discovery Channel moment. I was worried they were spiders or some type of bug that would eat all our flowers. Then I looked closer and thought they were grass hoppers. Then Jackson looked very closely and said, "Look Mommy, they are Praying Mantis!" All of a sudden they became "cute" to me. As cute as baby bugs can get I guess. I kept saying to Jackson, "Don't touch them, leave them alone, look how cute they are!" Now, pretty much the only reason I wanted to save their poor little lives is because Praying Manti eat other bugs. Any bug that eats spiders and flies and mosquitos and fruit flies can live on my porch anytime. So the whole thing was over in a matter of minutes and I think it was pretty cool that me and Jacks got to witness it all. Keep in mind, had it been any other bug, they would all be dead by now by my bug spray.

Thank you for saving the "Praying Mantis's" --- that was very interesting.
Very cool Saun! It took me a second to figure out what they were. I am glad you saved them, but I agree that most any other bug would have gotten the bug spray!
So cool!! What a neat thing to witness! At first I thought it was a rotten potato with a lot of eyes! To be fair was I sitting far away from the computer. Then I got looking closer and saw all of the little legs!! Very neat!
I love it, but where are the pics of your kids in Idaho. Will you not post some pics of that PLEASE. I miss you guys. Love
